Shortly after our first Lighthouse prints were on sale, Frank, the brewer from Clonakilty Brewery got in touch with us. Did we want to create a label for a new summer beer they were about to release named after and inspired by a favourite West Cork lighthouse: Galley Head?
We used the initial design for the Galley Head lighthouse print and re-created it into a beer label for the Galley Head Pale Ale. It’s a match made in heaven: get a Belgian (lighthouse loving) graphic designer and a Norwegian beer brewer together in West Cork Ireland to come up with a great tasting and good looking beer.
It didn’t stop there however. Frank knew what he wanted for his yearly traditional Christmas beer creation named Juleøl (pronounced yulah uhl). It’s a Norwegian tradition to brew a strong ale for the festive period. For this Scotch Ale (are you still with us, all these nationalities?) he went back to his childhood memories and Norwegian Santa illustrations. So that’s the label we created, a snowy Santa scene illustrated by a Belgian for a Scotch Ale brewed by a Norwegian in Ireland.
